Plan for Assessment 3

I’ve chosen Sunday Walking Market, which is the longest walking market in Chiang Mai City (Northern Thailand) the market located right in the centre of the old city area. It is a weekly event runs from 3pm - midnight. It is a showcase of the craftsmanship.
The reason why I select this event is because, the event occurs during the timeframe and it allows me to do all the assessment requirements. Moreover Sunday Market is the best place in Chiang Mai to see genuine Thai style street entertainment such as Thai traditional dances and traditional musicians.

What do you think could be the main issues with this poorly written entertainment news story?

This is an example of how a news release should not be written, the article is written by Dave O’Neil. After reading this news release, it shows that the writer is not a professional journalist. The heading of the article is confusing and the story is all over the shop. Moreover, it seems like the story talks more about the bodyguard not Robert Pattinson.

This is an example of well written news release because it is clear, giving useful information and stick to the facts. Contact details of the AgForce media and communications personal are supplied.
The story includes every elements that good news releases should have; Who, What, Where, When, Why and How. All these make the story become interested.

Grammar: Problems and confusions 

As I mentioned before in the previous week that English is not my native language. Sometime I am still struggling with al these grammars but the more I practice the better I become. I attempted quiz twice after reading 'English for Journalists' (Wynford Hicks), the book helped me to complete the quiz a lot. The first time that i attempted the quiz i got 7/10 then 100% in the second attempted.

The top trends on Trendsmap for the 1/09/2015 were:

The first top trends on Trendsmap in my area seems to be "#leelawadeecomebackthailand" I never knew that Thai people like Korean pop this much. Trendsmaps really surprises me! The second top trend is "hormonestheseries3" It is a Thai teen drama television series and very popular among teen and young audiences in southeast Asia. From what i follow on these twitters i found that the season 3 is coming out soon.

Online Quiz 

Online Quiz for this week was pretty good, I am not that good at grammar so I got 7/10, which was okay for me because English wasn’t my first language but unless I tried my best. However, sometime I found quizzes are a bit difficult but it enables me to understand what we have learnt so far, it quite fun as well because we could try it many times until we the results were 100%.

Week 1

Hello Everyone,

First of all, I would like to write something about myself. My name is Melissa, a student at The University of Central Queensland. Currently I am studying Bachelor of Multimedia in Digital Production. I have always been attracted to photography, animation movie and graphic design since when I was young. I always drawn on a napkin when my family and I went out for dinner.

I was born and raised in Thailand, after I completed high school I decided to come to Australia to learn English and get into a university here.

I studied at Sydney campus until April then I received a letter said that I got a job as a digital marketing in Krabi(Southern Thailand). I was so pleased and accepted an offer right away, moving back to Thailand was the best thing. I couldn't wait to see all my family again and eat the real Thai food. Thailand has the best street food ever, you can generally eat whenever you like and the most important thing is that reasonable price.

Media Writing focuses on writing skill for writing specifically for digital media, blogging, the rules of grammar and journalism. I believe that i really have to work harder on this subject because writing hasn't been my passion, I am more into photography. Photograph can express the feelings and sensibility of person who created it. Especially for me, taking photo is so much easier than writing. However, I am pretty excited to do this course, maybe it may change my mind about writing.

I am aiming to improve my writing skill during this course as well as to become more knowledgeable about media writing and grammars.
